PRP stands for platelet rich plasma. PRP is collected through a simple blood draw. The blood is spun in a centrifuge and the platelet rich portion of the plasma is drawn up in a syringe and used for injection purposes. The scalp is numbed using topical agents. Most patients will experience a sensation of pressure during the procedure, which will dissipate over several hours.
Each treatment session is scheduled about 1 month apart.
Expect 4-6 treatments for best results.
New hair growth can be seen in as little as 60 days after the first session.
How does PRP work? PRP is rich in growth factor that will stimulate your hair follicles to produce new hair. The new hair growth is stronger and thicker and will not change the color of your hair. Maintenence is typically required. 2-3 sessions annually after the first round of treatments helps maintain your new healthy hair growth.

These labratory studies are required within 3 months prior to first treatment to confirm safety and efficacy for each patient. Some medical conditions will make this treatment non-effective or dangerous, including but not limited to clotting disorders, the use of anticoagulant therapies, and various dermatological conditions. This treatment is not for people currently undergoing chemotherapy or radiation, but can be helpful in many cases once these therapies are completed and the person is in remission.

PRP for Men
PRP is highly effective in preventing and reversing male pattern baldness when treatments begin in early phases of hair loss and the conversion of testosterone to DHT is blocked. Hair follicles die over time; this is why it's important not to wait until male pattern baldness has become severe. In cases of baldness, the follicles may already gone and more invasive procedures would be necessary.
